Android Looks Set to be Number 1
The technology industry has been buzzing recently about Android and all the possibilities that the mobile platform offers it’s users. It seems to be gaining momentum.
There has been a lot of talk about the potential of Android over the last couple of years but it seems that Google knew what they were doing and they have really upped the stakes, Android is the center of attention at the moment.
So why is Android so popular and why will it become even more popular in the future?
Android lets anyone get involved. Any developer can develop an app for Android and put it into the Android store. Its made it a really open device for Android Developers and the general public because they have a great choice of applications that just weren’t available before.
With Android the whole platform is open for developers to get on with developing whatever they like. Developers have more control and can use their creativity.
Android is different from Apple and the iPhone because with the iPhone the hardware and the software are bound together. With Android there are lots of phones that can be used with Android and it’s very customizable.
Quality of apps is an important factor in the development of Android and Google want to make sure that is always the case. Their Challenge for Android developers to come up with quality apps has helped drive the platform in it’s early days and will continue to help drive the platform.
The online world allows developers to make anything for PC’s and what Google wanted to do was to make the mobile world similar so that developers could make applications that would work on every mobile phone. This is what helps Google to grow more than anything.
Android is going through a great period at the moment. More phones are coming out and being announced by manufacturers all the time and their app store is the fastest growing mobile app store on the market.
This growth is a really good indicator that Android is serious competition for Apple and the iPhone. Before this growth most people in the industry knew that Android had a chance at success but people weren’t quite sure.
Now there is evidence that Android is and can be successful, so the future looks bright for the mobile platform.
Android Developers are particularly in demand from businesses wanting an Android app to showcase their product to the mobile world and to get involved in the mobile world, especially as it’s growing and will become more saturated in the future.
Those few early developers who started developing the first Android apps took the chance that Android would be successful. They showed the way to other developers and now more are getting on board and developing their skills.
