Top Three Must Have Accessories For Your Verizon Wireless Motorola Droid With Android
The Motorola Droid, being the first Google Andriod 2.0 phone has garnered many accolades. Notably a very rich high-resolution touch screen display. On top of that, it also comes with a full slide out keyboard for all of you with stubby fingers like me. Being such a high end media device, the battery life of roughly 6.4 hours of talktime (NOT including data, media, & game usage) is not enough. If you use the phone for more than talking, the battery life is literally cut in half.
What’s not to like about a 3.7″ LCD High Definition screen, full slide out QWERTY keyboard, and battery life of…of…ok, there’s one thing not to like. Still, just stick to our accessory suggestions below and you won’t run into any issues, even if you use your phone all day long.
1.) Leather Cases- Whether you like horizontal or vertical, one thing is certain, leather cases provide protection for your wireless device for the majority of the time. Why protect your phone you ask? Well you probably don’t need me to tell you, but the Motorola Droid is as much a phone as it is a media gadget. With it being able to run multiple applications, why wouldn’t you want to protect something that is out in full use? Whether you’re on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace (you’re still on MySpace?), playing the latest MP3′s, emailing or texting, or snapping a picture with the 5-Megapixel camera, a great leather case is like your Droid’s mobile home.
2.) Additional Chargers- As I stated before, the battery life of any smartphone is literally a joke. I don’t even know why battery life is measured in “talk-time” anymore. Start with the friend that sends twenty SMS text messages when it would have been faster to just call (you know what I’m talking about), the constant facebook updates on how your golf buddy is climbing up the ranks of Farmville, the list goes on and on. It’s not a matter of if your battery will drain, but when? Don’t get caught with your phone down! You have the home charger that your phone comes with, but why not just buy 2 more, for work and travel! Add a car charger so while you’re driving you can get a quick charge (depending if you’re in traffic or not it may not be so quick). This way you’re always charged up. You don’t have to get the ones wireless carriers sell at the store, those are over-priced. Look for ones around the $10 range, they work fine, and ALWAYS use a surge protector when possible.
3.) LCD Screen Protector- This is the first thing you should slap on your phone the minute you get it. Nothing is worse that having a huge 3.7″ inch touch screen with scuffs and scratches. It truly is amazing how screen protectors these days do such a great job without you even noticing they’re there. It also makes it easy to clean off skin oils and smudges. Prices range from $7-$15 for a good-quality Droid screen protector. Steer clear of offers that sell 10 of them for the price of one, they’re no better than saran wrap. A quality screen protector should have some rigidity to it and not curl up when you hold it from one end. It should also come with a cleaning cloth to get off those oils we mentioned before.
So there you have it. The 3 accessories you have to have for your Verizon Wireless Motorola Droid. If these are the only accessories you ever buy, at the very least your Droid will last you as long as you need, or at least until the Droid II comes out in a year.
